In the late afternoon of June 1, 2026, gunfire erupted in the parking lot of the Virginia Flats apartment complex in Beaumont, Texas. Twenty-five-year-old Nastazia Corbin was sitting in a vehicle when she was struck by a stray bullet during an argument between two people that escalated into a shootout. She was taken by private vehicle to a local hospital and later airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, where she died of a traumatic brain injury on the night of June 2, 2026.

Beaumont police arrested 18-year-old Drevion Anthony Wilson at the scene and a 15-year-old male the next day; both were held on aggravated assault-related charges after the shooting also left another person critically injured. On June 17, 2026, a Jefferson County grand jury indicted Drevion Wilson on murder in connection with Corbin’s death. Authorities cited witness identifications, surveillance footage from the complex, scene evidence, and a reported statement by Wilson during a police interview.
