On the evening of July 10, 2026, gunfire erupted near the Station 464 Apartments on Angier Avenue NE in Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward. Witnesses reported 10 to 15 shots; four people were struck and taken to a nearby hospital. Eighteen-year-old Jajuan McDowell died of his wounds at the hospital. The scene around a scooter in front of the building contained shell casings and bloodstains, and police tape extended to the Bedford Pine Apartments while investigators worked.
The Atlanta Police Department announced a major development the next day: two suspects were identified and taken into custody at Grady Memorial Detention Center. One is a 16-year-old male and the other is 17-year-old D’keiman Carter. Both are charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Motive has not been disclosed and the investigation is ongoing; no convictions or sentences have been reported.
If anyone witnessed the shooting, was in the area that night, or has information about what led to this violence, please come forward to assist the investigation.
