Michael Wayne Walters, 44, was shot and killed during an argument at a Texaco gas station in the 7500 block of Highway 72 in Madison, Alabama on July 8, 2026. Walters was found by emergency crews with a severe gunshot wound, transported to a hospital in critical condition and later died.

Police located Ballesteros inside a nearby business and took him into custody without incident. He was booked into the Madison County Jail and charged with murder.
