On the night of July 7, 2026, 19-year-old Marzee Li Buck Ford was found fatally shot near the curb at the intersection of Lambard Street and George Avenue in the Bristow Acres area of Tupelo, Mississippi. Neighbors initially mistook gunfire for fireworks; emergency responders pronounced Ford dead at the scene. The city’s first homicide of 2026 occurred amid a chaotic string of shootings that night. Earlier, officers had been at North Mississippi Medical Center treating a man shot in the foot after several houses on Bienville Street were struck. While investigating that incident, officers heard additional shots to the south and discovered Ford.
Days later, authorities charged 20-year-old Kenneth A. Jenkins with First-Degree Murder in Ford’s death. Jenkins was already in custody on unrelated charges when the new murder charge was filed, and a Tupelo Municipal Court judge ordered him held without bond. The case was to be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury and the investigation was described as ongoing. No trial, conviction, or sentencing had been announced.
Did anyone in Bristow Acres or nearby areas hear or see anything that night that could help investigators?
