Daniel DJ Jackson, 18, was killed by gunfire in the pre-dawn hours of July 6, 2026. Officers found him with fatal gunshot wounds around 2:45 a.m. in the 4400 block of Amnicola Highway, a commercial stretch near a 7-Eleven and an Amazon delivery station. Two other 18-year-olds, a male and a female, were also shot and taken to local hospitals.

Jackson was a founding member of Chattanooga Preparatory School’s first graduating class of 2025 and is remembered as kind-hearted, intelligent, and an encourager to peers. A GoFundMe was set up to help his family with funeral expenses and related needs. The Chattanooga Police Department’s Homicide Unit says the shooting occurred in the presence of a large group, and the investigation is active; no arrests or suspects have been publicly announced.
