JaRon J. Johnson, 18, was shot and killed in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 5, 2026. Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded about 2:30 a.m. to a home in the 1200 block of Penick Road in Lebanon after a report of a possible shooting and found Johnson deceased from a gunshot wound. A large party at the residence reportedly turned violent; a fight escalated, a gun was drawn, and shots were fired.
Johnson was a rising senior at Taylor County High School and played on the basketball and football teams. Schools, local athletics, and community members publicly mourned him; Senator Max Wise, who knew Johnson as his son’s basketball teammate, described him as respectful, hardworking, and possessing an infectious smile. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office announced an arrest in connection with the death but did not release the suspect’s name. No charges, court dates, or other case outcomes have been disclosed.
Did anyone who attended the party or who knew JaRon notice anything unusual that night or have information to share?
