Brandon Fadden, 33, of Centreville, was killed in an early-morning shooting inside a Chantilly home on July 4, 2026. Deputies from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report at about 1:52 a.m. in the 43000 block of Helmsdale Terrace and found Fadden with a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators said the shooting did not pose an ongoing threat to the community.

Later that day authorities arrested 31-year-old Chantilly resident Joshua Soroko and charged him with involuntary manslaughter, shooting a weapon inside an occupied dwelling, and reckless handling of a firearm. Those charges indicate officials were treating the death as an unlawful but allegedly unintentional killing; the specific circumstances of how the firearm was discharged or what led up to the shooting were not publicly explained. No additional suspects have been identified and detectives continue to investigate.
