On the night of July 4, 2026, gunfire erupted near the Orchard Cafe on Highway 24 in Centreville, Mississippi, at about 12:55 a.m., leaving nine people shot. Nineteen-year-old Dekevion Keshawn Andrews, a Wilkinson County High School student, was among those wounded and later died at Fields Health System; 22-year-old Donovan Jackson also died. Seven others were injured: three were transferred to a trauma center, and four were treated and released. Named victims include Jerryon Roger, 20; Cameron Robinson, 18; and Latelvin Henyard, 19; the remaining four injured were juveniles aged 14 to 17. Authorities transported Andrews and Jackson to the state crime lab in Jackson for autopsies.
The shooting prompted a 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew in Centreville and the resignation of Interim Police Chief GeMarcus Patterson. The Centreville Police Department, the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office, and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation are jointly handling the active investigation. Southwest Mississippi Crime Stoppers offered a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to arrests. Any witnesses with information, photos, or video are asked to come forward.
