Rashad Lamar Lumpkin, 36, was shot and killed in the pre-dawn hours of July 4, 2026, on a street in Vidalia, Georgia. Officers responded to a shots-fired call at about 3:13 a.m. in the 500 block of East Jenkins Street and found Lumpkin in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead on arrival.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was asked to lead the homicide probe, which the GBI and Vidalia police have described as active and ongoing as of early July 2026. Authorities have not released information on any suspect or suspects, and no arrests had been announced.
