A Fourth of July weekend celebration in Nacogdoches, Texas, ended in tragedy when 12-year-old Redarion Davis was fatally shot in the Eastwood Terrace subdivision just before midnight. Redarion, who was due to start sixth grade at McMichael Middle School and had attended Emeline Carpenter Elementary School, suffered a critical gunshot wound to the head. Emergency crews transported him to a local hospital and he was later airlifted to Texas Children’s Hospital, where he died of his injuries.
Investigators identified 19-year-old Zamarion Douglas of Nacogdoches as the person who fired the shot that struck Redarion. Douglas was taken into custody and charged with Injury to a Child, a first-degree felony; the investigation remained active and the legal process was in its early stages as of mid-July 2026. The Nacogdoches community and the school district held a vigil and expressed condolences as the family mourned.
If anyone in Eastwood Terrace or the surrounding area that night has information that could help the ongoing investigation, please come forward to the Nacogdoches Police Department.
