Thomas Charles Wilson, 33, was found dead inside the cab of an overturned pickup at the intersection of Highway 36 and Monroe Street in Red Bluff, California, on the afternoon of Saturday, July 4, 2026. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. What began as a single-vehicle crash investigation quickly shifted when detectives determined Wilson died from a gunshot wound rather than crash injuries.

Shortly after the discovery, 29-year-old Andrew Winstead went to Red Bluff Police Headquarters and reportedly told dispatchers he had shot Wilson. Winstead was arrested and charged with murder. Investigators are still reconstructing the sequence of events and seeking information about motive and what led to the shooting.

Funeral services, including a rosary and Mass, were announced at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Red Bluff. If anyone has information about the incident or Thomas Wilson’s movements that afternoon, please share what is known with investigators.
