Neville Stephen Conner, 38, was shot to death inside a home in the 1800 block of Allen Road in Long Beach, Mississippi, in the early morning hours of Thursday, July 2, 2026. Long-time Gulf Coast resident and Ingalls Shipyard electrician for about two and a half years, Conner was the father of two children, Alexis Marie Conner and Chase Stephen Conner, and is survived by his parents Dennis and Linda McKeown and brother Jason Conner. Authorities said Conner was found with multiple gunshot wounds and that the house where he was killed was not his residence; several other people were present at the time of the shooting.

Law enforcement from multiple counties and the Mississippi Department of Homeland Security assisted the Long Beach Police Department in the investigation. Less than 24 hours after the killing, 38-year-old Hallis Wayne Russ Jr. of Vancleave was arrested near Pat Eubanks Road in George County and charged with one count of first-degree murder; he was booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Center on a $1,000,000 bond.
