Harmoni Reed, a 4-year-old Black girl, was killed during a domestic shooting at a home on Traci Lynn Drive on Jacksonville’s Northside on June 30, 2026. Sheriff’s officers found Harmoni in the front yard shortly before 5 p.m.; she had multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her mother, Brianna Johnson, and younger sister, Rhythm Reed, were also seriously wounded and taken to hospitals with life-threatening injuries.
Investigators say Harmoni’s father, 29-year-old Trudale Reed Jr., arrived at about 4:37 p.m. Doorbell-camera footage reportedly shows the children greeting him before returning inside. At approximately 4:56 p.m. Reed allegedly pulled a black handgun and fired roughly 15 rounds at Johnson and toward the open front doorway; bullets passed through the closed screen door and struck the children. Relatives inside heard the gunfire and found the injured children near the entrance.
Reed allegedly fled in a stolen SUV but was later located and taken into custody after a vehicle stop; he was transported to a hospital for minor injuries and then booked. Authorities announced multiple charges including second-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder, and a judge denied bond on the murder and attempted-murder counts.
Did anyone in the neighborhood see the stolen SUV leaving the area around the time of the shooting?
