Shakeela Martin, 35, was killed on the evening of June 30, 2026, in the parking lot of a BP gas station in Ferguson, Missouri. She had taken two of her children, ages six and nine, to buy slushies as the family prepared to move into a new home the next day. An altercation that began inside the convenience store spilled into the parking lot and escalated into gunfire; Martin was struck and fatally wounded while returning to her vehicle. Her two children witnessed the shooting but were not physically injured. Another man suffered critical injuries in the same incident; his connection to the initial dispute has not been described.
The Ferguson Police Department opened a homicide investigation and asked the public for help. As of early July 2026, no arrests had been announced and no suspects had been publicly identified. The case remains an open investigation and a devastating loss for Martin’s five children and family.
Did anyone see activity in or around that BP station on June 30 that could help investigators?
