On the evening of June 28, 2026, a fatal shooting occurred at a residence on Lime Kiln Road in Sonora, California. Sixty-year-old Eric Brandon Udall suffered a gunshot wound; deputies provided life-saving measures and he was taken to Adventist Health Sonora, where he later died. Tuolumne County Sheriff’s deputies responded at about 7:15 p.m.
Investigators identified 55-year-old Timothy Allen Boling as the suspect after reports that a physical fight between Boling and Udall escalated and led to the shooting. Boling, a convicted felon on post-release community supervision and prohibited from possessing firearms, fled before officers arrived. Deputies released photos of Boling and his white 2002 Toyota Tundra and followed tips that placed him in Columbia State Historic Park.
A California State Parks Law Enforcement Officer located Boling and held him at gunpoint until deputies took him into custody the next morning. He was booked into Tuolumne County Jail on a murder charge; the District Attorney filed murder charges with a firearm enhancement and felon-in-possession counts, noting three prior serious or violent felony convictions and that Boling was out on bail for a pending felony at the time. He was ordered held without bail and the case is pending further proceedings.
If anyone witnessed the incident on Lime Kiln Road or saw Boling or the Toyota Tundra in the Columbia area that night, please share what was seen.
