A quiet Sunday afternoon in Salisbury, North Carolina was shattered by gunfire on June 28, 2026. The shooting happened shortly before 2 p.m. at the intersection of Bringle Ferry Road and Green Street. Investigators found shell casings at that intersection and residents reported hearing multiple shots and a car speeding away.

Seventeen-year-old Jeron D. Ellis was later discovered at a Han Dee Hugo’s gas station at East Innes Street and Stokes Ferry Road and was pronounced dead of multiple gunshot wounds. Two others were at the scene: 30-year-old Dionte T. Tillman, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital, and 22-year-old Elijah Z. Hoover, who was unharmed. Police believe the victims traveled to the gas station after the shooting occurred blocks away.

The Salisbury Police Department and the State Bureau of Investigation appealed to the public for information, said they did not believe the shooting was random, and cautioned there was no ongoing threat to the public. No arrests have been announced and no suspects have been named; the investigation remains open.

If anyone has information about the shooting or saw a vehicle leaving the Bringle Ferry Road and Green Street area that afternoon, please come forward.
