On June 27, 2026, two-year-old Camari Givens was found dead in his bed in Jackson, Mississippi, the victim of multiple gunshot wounds. His mother, 25-year-old Keyana Weathersby, and his aunt, 30-year-old Erica Weathersby, were also found in the home on Queen Alexandria Lane with gunshot wounds to the head and torso. Police responded after a 911 call reporting an aggravated assault and described the attack as targeted, saying Camari did not appear to have been caught in a crossfire.
Investigators recovered a 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage taken from the scene; it was later found abandoned. The Jackson Police Department, the FBI, and the U.S. Marshals Service conducted a multi-day manhunt that produced tips from the community and led to arrests. On the Monday after the killings, 28-year-old Cornelius Carter and 28-year-old Jordan Carter were stopped in a vehicle and taken into custody; three firearms were recovered and Cornelius was reported to have been wearing an ankle monitor. Two more people were later arrested, including 25-year-old Mikayla Young, bringing four individuals to face capital murder charges. Authorities say the victims and the accused knew one another; no motive has been released.
Does anyone in Jackson have information about the family or the events that night that could help investigators or the victims’ relatives?
