Late on the night of June 27, 2026, gunfire on Easy Street in Rembert, South Carolina, ended the life of 23-year-old Daizhan K’Vonte-Les Perry. Deputies from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office arrived about 10:30 p.m. after reports of shots fired and found Perry with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the home. Two other people were wounded and taken to Prisma Health Tuomey with non-life-threatening injuries and were reported stable.

Perry was born in Sumter on November 20, 2002, and raised in the Rembert community. He worked as a production worker at Pilgrim Pride. Family planned visitation at his home on Dennis Road and a celebration of life on July 6, 2026, at New Beginning Outreach Ministry in Dalzell, with burial in the church cemetery.

Sheriff Anthony Dennis called the killing senseless and heinous and said investigators were working to identify the person or persons responsible. No arrests had been announced and authorities were seeking a person of interest; investigators said they believed the shooting was an isolated incident. Does anyone in Rembert have information about that night or about Daizhan’s activities on June 27?
