On June 27, 2026, a triple homicide in Jackson, Mississippi left 25-year-old Keyana Weathersby, her 30-year-old sister Erica Weathersby, and Keyana’s 2-year-old son Camari Givens dead from multiple gunshot wounds inside their Queen Alexandria Lane home. Police were initially called for an aggravated assault; investigators described the scene as a targeted attack and the Hinds County Coroner called it one of the worst he had seen in his decade-long career.

Federal and local agencies assisted the Jackson Police Department and, within days, four suspects were arrested and charged with capital murder. Cornelius Carter and Jordan Carter, both 28 and not related, were arrested first; three firearms were recovered from their vehicle and both men have extensive criminal histories. Investigators say 25-year-old Mikayla Young is believed to have driven the Carter men to the house, and Devone Modacure was later apprehended in Forney, Texas and is awaiting extradition.

Authorities say the victims and assailants knew each other and suggest the killings may have stemmed from a robbery, though no definitive motive has been released. The three suspects arrested in Mississippi were denied bond; the case will proceed through the state court system.
