Randall Holmes, 49, was shot and killed in Baton Rouge on June 27, 2026. The shooting happened about 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Osceola and Calumet streets after a physical altercation among a group of teenagers. Holmes had just returned from his uncle’s funeral and went outside to try to de-escalate the fight; he died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds. Four other people were wounded and taken to area hospitals.
A long-time neighborhood resident who moved there in 1984, Holmes was a husband and father; his wife, Nadia Holmes, said they would have celebrated 19 years of marriage in July. The Baton Rouge Police Department opened a homicide investigation, and as of early July 2026 no arrests had been announced and no suspects were publicly identified.
Anyone who was near Osceola and Calumet around 3:30 p.m. on June 27, or who has information about the altercation, is asked to come forward.
