On the evening of June 26, 2026, 21-year-old Jordan Elijah Rouse was shot and killed on Gorman Place in the Ballentine Commons Apartments complex in Simpsonville, South Carolina. Deputies from the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office found Rouse in the roadway shortly before 7:45 p.m.; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Rouse, a 2023 Hillcrest High School graduate, was described by family as a hopeful young man who was looking forward to a new job and was raising two young children.

The investigation quickly produced arrests. On June 27, deputies arrested 20-year-old Nylin Harris, who was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Two days later 20-year-old Xavian Cherry was taken into custody and charged with the same offenses. On July 6 authorities announced the arrest of 20-year-old Raimon St. John Campbell Jr., located by an automated license plate reader at a water park in Boone, North Carolina; he is being held without bond pending extradition to South Carolina on a murder charge. No motive has been disclosed.

Anyone who knew Jordan, his movements that evening, or has information about the shooting is asked to come forward.
