A 7-month-old infant named Kiyomi Parker was killed by a single gunshot inside a home in the 8400 block of North Broadway in St. Louis on June 26, 2026. Officers transported Kiyomi to a hospital in a police vehicle, but she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Investigators say a 10-year-old boy found a handgun stored under a mattress in the house and fired it, striking the infant. The boy was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder in juvenile court; his name has not been released because of his age. The gun’s owner, identified as 19-year-old Ca’Marion Pawnell of East St. Louis, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child after authorities alleged the firearm had been left unsecured.
The case raises urgent questions about how the child accessed the weapon and the responsibilities of adults who keep firearms in homes with children. Does anyone have information about the household or the events that afternoon?
