A gathering at an apartment complex on Linfield Road in Dallas ended in violence in the early morning hours of June 26, 2026, when 31-year-old Lee Edward Womack Jr., born March 14, 1995, was shot and killed. Police were called about 2:25 a.m.; Dallas Fire-Rescue responded but Womack succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Investigators are treating the death as a homicide.

Preliminary reports say an argument between two men inside an apartment escalated and one man produced a firearm, shooting Womack multiple times. Officers identified 21-year-old Jermiah Savage at the scene and took him into custody; he was initially arrested on an outstanding probation violation warrant for attempted aggravated sexual assault of a child and was being held on $100,000 bond. The shooting investigation is ongoing and the case will be referred to a Dallas County grand jury for review.

Anyone who was at the gathering or who has information about what led to the altercation is asked to come forward.
