In the late morning of June 25, 2026, Rodney Haney walked into the Greenville Police Department and told officers he had just shot a woman on Alexander Street. He identified the victim as 52-year-old Minnie Coffey, with whom he had been in a romantic relationship for about four years. Haney gave no further details without an attorney and was taken into custody; he was later charged with Coffey’s murder.

Investigators were dispatched to the scene and the Greenville Police Department opened a thorough investigation. Authorities asked anyone with information to contact the Greenville Police Department or Crime Stoppers, and said anonymous tips would be accepted. Funeral services for Minnie Jean Coffey were held July 10–11, 2026, and she was buried at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.

If anyone knew Minnie, her relationship with Haney, or has information about what happened on Alexander Street, please come forward.
