Curtis Whitted Jr., 20, died after a late-night shooting in Henrico County. On June 24, 2026, at about 11:10 p.m., police went to the 300 block of Kingsridge Road and found a vehicle had crashed into a tree. Inside was Whitted, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.

Investigators opened a homicide probe and asked the community for help, including anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers. On July 7, 2026, Henrico Police arrested 20-year-old Savontre Kester Garlick of Aylett and charged him with second-degree murder and using a firearm in the commission of a felony in connection with Whitted’s death. Authorities have not released further details about motive or the specific circumstances that led to the shooting.
