Quashawn T. White, 33, of Newark, New Jersey, was shot and killed on the evening of June 24, 2026, at about 8:08 p.m. at the South Burlington Road Townhouse Complex (Burlington Manor Apartments) in Bridgeton. Police found White with multiple gunshot wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene. He was remembered by family as a loving father, son, brother, cousin, friend, and grandson.

Investigators with the Bridgeton Police Department and the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office identified a suspect. On June 26, 2026, 32-year-old Rynell L. Lawrence of South Burlington Road in Bridgeton was charged with first-degree murder and additional weapons offenses, but had not been apprehended and remains a fugitive. Law enforcement has warned he should be considered armed and dangerous and asked the public not to approach him; the New Jersey State Police Fugitive Unit is assisting in the search. No arrest, court proceedings, conviction, or sentencing has been reported.
