A family dispute in Foley, Alabama, ended in a fatal shooting on June 22, 2026. Deputies from the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Mannich Lane residence and found 55-year-old Robert Keith Barlow on the front lawn with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was taken to a local hospital and later died of his injuries.
Witnesses told investigators that Barlow had been arguing with his 42-year-old cousin, Joseph Lee Smith, and that the confrontation began over a Facebook post. Smith is alleged to have produced a shotgun and fired at Barlow. After interviews at the scene, Smith was arrested, booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Center, and charged with murder. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing; the specific contents of the Facebook post and many details of the argument have not been released.
Did anyone in Foley see or hear anything that night, or have information about the exchange that led to this shooting?
