Dewey Lee Morris, 86, and his wife Lillie Coleman Morris, 84, were found dead from gunshot wounds at their Charlottesville-area home in the 5000 block of Heritage Hall Road on June 21, 2026. Emergency personnel arrived at about 12:20 p.m.; both were pronounced deceased and their remains were sent to the Richmond Medical Examiner for autopsies.
The couple had been married since June 17, 1961, and were described as longtime companions who enjoyed camping, motorcycling, music and travel. Dewey worked as a glass mechanic and pursued genealogy; Lillie had a career with H.M. Gleason & Co. Police have opened a death investigation into the double shooting, say they consider it an isolated incident, and have appealed to the public for information.
No suspects, arrests, motives or charges have been publicly released. If anyone knew the Morrises or has information about what happened that day, please contact Crime Stoppers or the Albemarle County Police Department.?
