John Morris, 51, was shot multiple times on the evening of June 21, 2026, on the 12100 block of Lenacrave Avenue in Cleveland’s Corlett neighborhood. Officers arrived around 8:25 p.m.; they provided first aid until paramedics transported Morris to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner determined the cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds. This was the second fatal shooting on that block in under a week, prompting a homicide investigation into whether the incidents were connected.
On June 29, police arrested 39-year-old Brandon Heard in connection with Morris’s killing. A Cuyahoga County grand jury indicted Heard on July 9 on counts including aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, kidnapping, felonious assault, and having a weapon while under disability; the indictment alleges a firearm was used and that the incident involved robbery and an abduction. Bond was set at $1 million and an arraignment was scheduled for July 10, 2026. The Cleveland Division of Police Homicide Unit asked anyone with information or video to come forward.
Does anyone in the Corlett neighborhood have information or footage that could help clarify what happened to John Morris?
