On the evening of June 21, 2026, a Father’s Day gathering in Tampa turned fatal when 29-year-old Kevondre Thomas was shot near West Main Street and North Albany Avenue shortly after 10 p.m. Officers who were dispersing the large crowd heard gunfire; hundreds of people fled as officers ran toward the scene and found Thomas in critical condition. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.
Witnesses reported a verbal argument among attendees before the shooting. Surveillance footage from a nearby business reportedly shows Thomas and another man, described as in a heated argument, with bystanders attempting to intervene. According to that footage, the other man produced a firearm and struck Thomas, who was unarmed.
The motive for the altercation that led to the shooting has not been made public. Does anyone who attended the event or lived nearby that night have information that could help investigators?
