On June 21, 2026, Lillie Coleman Morris, 84, and her husband Dewey Lee Morris, 86, were found dead in their Charlottesville home on Heritage Hall Road. Both were killed by gunshot wounds; their bodies were taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Richmond for autopsy and the Albemarle County Police Department opened a death investigation. Police described the incident as isolated and said there was no ongoing threat to the community.
Lillie enjoyed ballroom dancing, music and animals and had a long career with H.M. Gleason & Co. Dewey, a glass mechanic, had interests in genealogy and creative mechanics. Married in 1961, the couple were active together—motorcycling, traveling and camping—and were remembered as devoted partners by family and friends.
No arrests or suspect identifications have been announced and investigators have not released a motive for the double killing. If anyone knew Lillie or Dewey or has information about their last known contacts or movements, please come forward to assist the investigation.
