Christopher Serafin, 42, was shot and killed during a barbecue in Gaston, Oregon, on the evening of June 20, 2026. Multiple 9-1-1 calls came in around 9:15 p.m. reporting a shooting on Vista Ridge Court. Neighbors and first responders attempted aid, but Serafin died at the scene from a gunshot wound.
The gathering was described by one neighbor as a going away party that turned sour after an altercation between Serafin and another man, 48-year-old Christopher Kenneth Maller of Beaverton. A gunshot was fired shortly after the dispute began. Responding officers detained Maller at the scene; he was arrested and booked into the Washington County Jail on a charge of second-degree murder and made his first court appearance the following Monday. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
If anyone witnessed the barbecue or the events on Vista Ridge Court that night, or has information that could help the investigation, please share what is known with the Sheriff’s Office.
