Irene Hind was a 55-year-old owner of Irene’s Domar Club on Larkin Street in San Francisco. Described as generous and hands-on with regulars at her neighborhood bar, she was raped and strangled on March 12, 1974. Few public details exist about where her body was found or who discovered her, but investigators classified the killing as a sexually motivated strangulation.

Hind’s death was later reviewed alongside several similar cases in San Francisco and the San Pedro area of Los Angeles involving women who drank in bars, faced personal difficulties, and had been sexually assaulted and strangled; some victims had been bound or had their faces covered. A principal suspect identified in the wider series was Adolph Theodore Laudenberg, who reportedly confessed to family members about killing women in both cities and was later convicted in an unrelated 1972 San Pedro murder after undercover DNA collection matched him to that crime. No physical evidence, confession specifically naming Hind, eyewitness identification, or charge linked Laudenberg publicly to Hind’s killing, and no one has been convicted for her murder.

Did anyone who knew Irene or the Domar Club in 1974 notice suspicious people or events around the bar in the weeks before her death?
