On April 19, 1990, the body of a young woman was found behind a Pilot truck stop off Interstate 70 in Licking County, Ohio. She was dressed only in her underwear and had been beaten to death by blunt force trauma to the head. For 27 years she was unidentified and buried in Marne under a headstone reading Jane Doe, somebody’s mother somebody’s daughter.
In 2017 the Jane Doe was finally identified as 29-year-old Patrice Anita Corley after her family in Louisville, Kentucky, filed a missing person report in October 2016 and provided a DNA sample that produced a match. Patrice was a mother to a young son and a veteran who had been missing since December 1989; her family says earlier attempts to report her missing had been unsuccessful.
Licking County detectives reopened the investigation and coordinated with Louisville police. Theories have included a possible link to a regional serial offender known as Dr. No, but no arrests or convictions have been announced. Does anyone have information about Patrice’s last known movements or contacts in late 1989?
