Rosalie Reisberg was 26 and working as a nurse when she was found murdered in her Manhattan apartment on West 87th Street in late October 1975. Her husband returned to the apartment on a Tuesday and discovered her partially unclothed body; her throat had been slashed. There were no signs of forced entry, nothing appeared stolen, and investigators found no evidence of sexual assault, leaving detectives puzzled about motive and opportunity.

Detectives established a narrow window for the crime: Rosalie spoke with her mother around 11 a.m. that day and had a hairdresser’s appointment scheduled for the afternoon she never made. More than 30 detectives canvassed the neighborhood, re-interviewed witnesses, and spoke with merchants, but the inquiry produced no definitive timeline or reliable suspects. The family has been left with many unanswered questions about who killed Rosalie and why.

Did anyone in the neighborhood or anyone who knew Rosalie in 1975 have information that was never reported to investigators? Please share tips or memories that might help finally fill in her last hours.
