Jake Mills, 60, was found dead in his Shreveport home at 1549 Poland Avenue on December 12, 1986. He had been stabbed multiple times; surviving accounts note he was bound and stabbed and that the scene suggested he may have known his attacker, implying the assailant might have been admitted rather than entering as a stranger.

Mills’ killing was later reviewed alongside a series of violent, unsolved mid-1980s Shreveport homicides that featured close-contact violence. Investigators examined the case in connection with Nathaniel Robert Code Jr., who was arrested in August 1987 and later convicted in 1990 of four other Shreveport murders. No physical evidence tying Code conclusively to the Poland Avenue scene was reported, and he was never charged in Mills’ death.

Does anyone have information about Mills, his circle, or that neighborhood in 1986 that could help reopen leads?
