Michelle Angiers was 23 and working as a go-go dancer when she was picked up in Scranton, Pennsylvania, on the night of September 23, 1982. The man who drove her to Dickson City assaulted her in a tavern parking lot, raping her and stabbing her about 30 times; her body was later found there.
Investigators eventually linked the killing to William Dean Christensen, a drifter with a criminal record dating to 1969. Christensen had used aliases such as Stanley Holl and had been convicted in Canada for assault; he was also a suspect in other violent crimes. After his arrest in December 1983 for a separate homicide in Philadelphia, evidence recovered from his residence helped tie him to Angiers’ murder. He was tried in July 1987, convicted of third-degree murder on August 5, and given an additional 10 to 20 years.
Christensen remained imprisoned until his death of natural causes on October 31, 1990. Does anyone have memories of Michelle or information about her life in Scranton that could add context to this case?
