Stuart Drake Davis, 26, was found in his Alexandria, Virginia apartment on August 22, 1976, the victim of a violent homicide. He had been bound with both hands and feet tied and had been shot in the back of the head. The scene prompted a multi-jurisdictional homicide investigation.
Investigators focused on Allen Leroy Anderson, a 33-year-old parolee who had absconded from a Seattle halfway house and was linked to a series of similar crimes across the country. Authorities connected a pattern of robberies followed by victims being shot in the back of the head and implicated Anderson in multiple slayings from Florida to Minnesota to California. Alexandria prosecutors announced plans to present Davis’s murder to a grand jury with Anderson named as the suspect.
