A routine scooter collision in Gladeview turned deadly on the late afternoon of Sunday, August 23, 2026. Darryl Frankders Johnson Jr, 24, was riding an electric scooter at Northwest 75th Street and 22nd Court shortly before 5:30 p.m. when he collided with another man on an e-scooter. The shooter fled on his scooter and was reportedly accompanied by a small child of about two or three years old. Johnson’s mother, Stacey Bernard, said he was on his way to work at a local WingStop and described him as a wonderful, awesome son who made her proud. No arrests have been announced and the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to check surveillance footage or come forward with information that could identify the suspect.
