On the morning of Sunday, August 23, 2026, officers responded just after 5:30 a.m. to a residence in the 4800 block of NW 62nd Terrace in Kansas City, Missouri, after a call about a person needing medical attention. Inside they found 58-year-old Harley Harvey unresponsive; emergency personnel pronounced Harvey deceased at the scene. Investigators initially treated the circumstances as suspicious and homicide detectives and crime scene technicians processed the house for evidence.

The medical examiner later determined Harvey died of multiple gunshot wounds, and the death was officially ruled a homicide.
