Lanier Harmon, 39, was shot to death and pronounced at the scene early on Sunday, August 23, 2026, after Baltimore County police officers responded about 1:55 a.m. to a report of a shooting in the 800 block of Woodrow Avenue in Essex. Officers found Harmon inside her car with a gunshot wound; she did not survive.
Details about what led to the shooting are limited. One report referenced dispatch audio suggesting a security guard — later hospitalized with a stab wound — may have fired into Harmon’s vehicle and said the guard and others near a local bar were detained for questioning, but that account has not been widely corroborated. The Baltimore County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating; no suspects have been publicly named and no arrests have been announced.
Did anyone in Essex see or hear anything in the early morning hours of August 23 that could help investigators?
