Trinity Durham, 20, was one of two women killed in a pre-dawn double shooting at about 1:44 a.m. on August 23, 2026, in the 400 block of Reg Smith Circle at the Family Scholar House near the University of Louisville’s Belknap Campus. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified Durham and the other victim as Iyanna Warr; both died of gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene. University officials said neither victim was a student or employee, though Durham was connected to the Family Scholar House program and was a young mother pursuing plans for a career in geriatric healthcare.

Her death leaves a young child motherless and ended those career plans. Residents had previously raised concerns about security at the complex, including a gate that had been awaiting parts for repairs; the organization’s CEO also noted surveillance cameras that might aid investigators. Louisville Metro Police characterize the incident as an open homicide investigation; as of reporting no arrests or suspects have been announced.
