Shortly after midnight on Saturday, August 22, 2026, gunfire erupted outside Chip’s Daiquiris on West Laurel Avenue in Eunice, Louisiana. When officers arrived they found 22-year-old Davion Ali Fugett of Opelousas and 34-year-old Rico Cardazz Morgan of Eunice dead in the parking lot; three other people sustained serious to critical injuries and were taken to area hospitals. The scene contained multiple shell casings and investigators reviewed surveillance footage and interviewed witnesses.

The business confirmed security was on site and issued a statement expressing sorrow over the shooting.
