On the evening of Friday, August 21, 2026, 25-year-old Lawnside resident George Rivera was shot on West Hodges Avenue. A private vehicle took him to Cooper University Hospital, where he was treated for gunshot wounds and later pronounced dead that same evening.

The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and the Lawnside Police Department opened a homicide investigation. Detectives collected evidence and canvassed the area; authorities publicly appealed for anyone with information about the shooting to come forward. As of late August 2026 no arrests had been made and no suspects had been publicly identified. The motive and detailed circumstances have not been released.
