Jarell Andrey Rojas, 19, was fatally shot on the evening of August 21, 2026, on Lexington’s south side. Officers responding around 7:45 p.m. to the 2700 block of Tilden Road found Rojas with a gunshot wound after the vehicle he was driving struck the side of a house. Investigators say he had been shot before the crash; he was the only person in the vehicle and died at 8:35 p.m., the Fayette County Coroner ruling the death a homicide.

Residents reported hearing multiple gunshots before a black SUV hit the residence, which suffered only minor damage and was deemed safe to occupy. Police closed the area briefly to process the scene and said they were still working to develop a suspect description. No suspect had been publicly identified and no arrests or charges were reported as of August 25, 2026.

His family prepared funeral services set for late August. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lexington Police Department or submit an anonymous tip through Bluegrass Crime Stoppers.
