A violent dispute in the 3100 block of Milton Road in east Charlotte on Thursday, August 20, 2026, ended with the death of 33-year-old Huber Alexander Velazquez, a Honduran national. During the altercation Velazquez was shot multiple times; he managed to travel nearly 200 yards from the scene before collapsing in a supermarket parking lot. Officers responding to a welfare check at about 6:28 p.m. found him with life-threatening injuries, and emergency crews pronounced him dead at the scene.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Search personnel are investigating. No suspects have been publicly identified and no arrests have been announced. Authorities have asked the public for help as the investigation remains active.
