Romeo C Bates Johnson, 22, was shot and killed in Norfolk, Virginia, on August 19, 2026. Around 10:00 p.m. gunfire rang out in the 100 block of West Liberty Street in the Berkley neighborhood. Johnson was taken from the scene in a private vehicle to Sentara Leigh Hospital, where he died of his injuries.

The Norfolk Police Department opened a homicide investigation and established the link between the scene response and the hospital report. Friends and acquaintances suggested the shooter or shooters may have been in a black Dodge Charger, but police have not released an official suspect description.
