Sixty-five-year-old Kenneth McWilliams was shot once in a grassy area between two houses on 8th Avenue S.E., near the intersection of 9th Avenue and 11th Street Southeast, and was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 1:30 p.m.

Reports say the argument concerned the suspect’s grandmother and that the verbal altercation escalated into violence. Investigators identified a single person of interest, and on Sunday, August 16, 2026, 23-year-old Devon Jaden Boyd was taken into custody and charged in connection with McWilliams’s death.
