LaTaivia Davis, an educator with Everman Independent School District and a teacher’s aide at E. Ray Elementary School, was killed on Interstate 20 in Fort Worth early on August 13, 2026. Around 6:40 a.m. near the Trail Lake Drive and Granbury Road exit, another driver pulled alongside her eastbound vehicle and fired a single shot that struck her. First responders found Ms. Davis in her vehicle; she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fort Worth police say witness accounts and dashcam video helped identify the suspect vehicle. Investigators arrested 37-year-old Patrick Lawrence at his workplace in Justin during a lunch break, booked him into the Tarrant County jail, and charged him with murder. Police report finding a gun in his vehicle and say an arrest affidavit includes a confession in which Lawrence admitted firing one shot after saying Davis had tailgated and cut across the on-ramp markings.

LaTaivia Davis is remembered as a dedicated church volunteer and beloved school aide. Does anyone have information about her commute that morning or dashcam footage from I-20 near the Trail Lake Drive exit?
