Jesus Rosario, 51, died on July 4, 2019, after meeting Angelina Barini at a motel in Astoria, Queens. Investigators tied his death to a series of fatal druggings that summer; prosecutors say Barini met Rosario at the motel, supplied drugs that contained fentanyl, and he was later found dead in the room. The medical examiner ruled the cause of death acute intoxication from combined effects of alcohol, methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl.

Surveillance footage showed a woman resembling Barini leaving the motel at about 9:30 a.m., roughly 90 minutes before Rosario was discovered at about 11:00 a.m. Prosecutors later described a pattern in which Barini provided narcotics to men to incapacitate them and then stole from them, and some of the drugs she supplied contained lethal quantities of fentanyl. Barini was arrested August 25, 2019; she later pleaded guilty to federal narcotics offenses and was sentenced in April 2022. Federal records specifically identify Barini as the person directly connected to supplying the drugs in Rosario’s July 4 encounter, though the plea counts that alleged distribution resulting in death named other victims.

Did anyone in the Astoria area see Rosario the morning of July 4 or notice the woman who left the motel around 9:30 a.m.?
